St. Johns Creative Collective is a community home for art, music, movement, learning, gathering, and the many ways people bring their gifts into the world. Set within a beloved historic church in the heart of St. Johns, the Collective offers room to teach, rehearse, make, celebrate, work, and connect.
Every Person Has a Light
We believe every person has a light uniquely their own.
Sometimes that light is expressed through painting or music. Sometimes through teaching, woodworking, gardening, movement, entrepreneurship, cooking, writing, craftsmanship, or simply gathering people together. Creativity is not reserved for artists, it is the way human beings bring their gifts into the world.
Too often, people set aside the things that make them feel most alive. Life gets busy. Responsibilities grow. Dreams are postponed. Talents remain hidden.
We believe communities flourish when people are given the time, space, encouragement, and belonging to rediscover what lights them up, and to share it with others.
A New Chapter for a Beloved Building
For generations, this building has been a place where people gathered: to celebrate, grieve, learn, sing, serve, and care for one another. St. Johns Creative Collective carries that spirit forward in a new form.
Rather than allowing a treasured community space to disappear or become inaccessible, we are opening its doors wider. The sanctuary, halls, studios, classrooms, offices, kitchen, and gathering rooms are becoming places where neighbors can create, teach, practice, perform, work, and build something meaningful together.
How We Got Here
St. Johns Creative Collective grew from the story of The Montessori House of St. Johns, which has called this historic building home for many years.
When the opportunity arose for The Montessori House to secure its long-term home, it also opened the door to something new. The school would continue serving young children on the main and lower levels, while the building’s gathering spaces, studios, classrooms, and sanctuary could become home to something much bigger.
St. Johns Creative Collective was created to bring those spaces to life.
Rooted in the same belief in human potential that has long guided The Montessori House, the Collective is a place for creativity, connection, learning, and community; a home for people to make things, share ideas, teach, learn, gather, perform, experiment, and bring something of their own into the world.
The Montessori House is securing its home. And in doing so, a whole lot more space is opening up for possibility.

Connected Communities
The Montessori House of St. Johns and Cathedral Park Performing Arts Collective are the anchor tenants of St. Johns Creative Collective. Together, they bring education, music, performance, and community into the building, helping form the foundation for SJCC’s larger vision: a place where more artists, teachers, musicians, makers, and neighbors can share what lights them up.
